From the 4th to 12th of January, the students of the 2nd course of pottery firing in HBAFA paid a 8-day visit to Taiwan, which was led by Dong Xiaolong, the Dean of the School of Urban Design and Director of Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Centre. They visited prestigious universities in Taiwan and the culture and art district of pottery, learned local customs and traditions, and summarized the visit together.
The pottery firing class visited National Taiwan University of Arts and Tung Fang Design Institute. On the 5th of January, the pottery firing class was warmly received by National Taiwan University of Arts, the staff of which introduced the department of craft and design, including its history, education system and future. Meanwhile, Dong Xiaoling introduced the basic conditions of HBAFA, the purpose of this visit and other specific situations.

On the 8th of January, Tung Fang Design Institute held a welcome ceremony for the pottery firing class with many leaders attending. Wu Shuming, the President of Tung Fang Design Institute, delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development of the Institute and the construction of disciplines.

Guided by Chen Qingsong, Director of General Affairs, the pottery firing class visited Shigeo Fukuda Design Museum, and Yuanwudian Bronze Sculpture Exhibition Hall. In addition, they got a chance to know the Museum of Taiwan Design History, and learn their school-running idea and practical education concepts.

Then, they visited the culture and art district of pottery, including National Palace Museum in Taipei, Boer Art District in Gaoxiong, Yingge Ceramics Museum, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.

During the 8-day visit in Taiwan, the class also experienced local customs and traditions and visited Chung Tai Chan Monastery, 101 Building, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, Sun-Moon Lake, Snake Kiln, Mountain Ali etc.
On the 12th of January, HBAFA held a meeting to summarize the visit in the Castle of Cinderella, which was presided by Dong Xiaolong. Under the guidance of this visit, they made a decision that the following practice courses of work creation would be themed by “boundary-crossing, innovation, and closer to life”and oriented by “use”. Up till now, the visit concluded perfectly.
